The clue came at the end of a video. Presenting its humanoid robot Digit 5, Agility Robotics slipped in an image of a humanoid mounted on wheels, The Robot Report notes.

Asked by the site, the company's chief executive, Jonathan Hurst, confirmed that Agility is indeed studying wheeled robots.

Is it a wheeled version of Digit or an entirely new robot? It is too early to say, according to Jonathan Hurst, who says he has hunches but admits the work is only beginning.

The stakes are commercial. According to a filing by the company, Agility has received more than 300 million dollars in multi-year orders for Digit v5 from a single customer, which it intends to fulfil in the coming years.
