# In Chicago, residents accuse Coco and Serve delivery robots of recording their hands and faces

> Chicago residents have sued Coco Robotics and Serve Robotics over the alleged illegal collection of biometric data, Futurism reports, citing the Associated Press. Both companies contest the claims.

According to the plaintiffs, the robots use their cameras and lidar sensors to record information about the hands, bodies and faces of residents who approach to collect their order. They say they never asked to be served by a robot and never gave their consent.

The man suing Coco also claims that a human operator watched his delivery remotely while it was happening. The man suing Serve says the robot collected and stored his data while he was picking up an Uber Eats order.

Coco says the complaint misunderstands its technology and states that it did not collect biometric data in Chicago.

Serve intends to defend itself in court. The company says its systems are not designed to identify people or to build biometric profiles.
