# iRobot takes the Roomba i3 base and turns it into Create 3, an educational robot announced at 299 dollars

Create 3 is built on the platform of the Roomba i3 robot vacuum cleaner. According to iRobot, it replaces costly robotics kits that have to be assembled and tested, and works out of the box.

According to the manufacturer, Create 3 is compatible with ROS 2, software that iRobot presents as a reference for roboticists around the world.

iRobot announced it as available in the United States and Canada, priced at 299 US dollars and 399 Canadian dollars.
