According to Xataka, US content creator Frankie LaPenna became the first human to act as a guinea pig against a robot in an MMA cage. Facing him was a machine 1.80 metres tall and weighing 75 kg, and the blows were very real.

The turning point of the fight came when the robot threw a front kick of excessive violence, which literally sent the YouTuber flying to the other side of the cage.

In appearance, the robot copies the T-800 from the “Terminator” saga: an articulated structure, a reinforced metal chassis and menacing red eyes.

No artificial intelligence made the decisions. A human pilot outside the ring controlled the machine entirely in real time, using a virtual reality headset and a suit fitted with motion sensors.

Behind the event is REK, a US robotics company. According to Xataka, it builds these steel prototypes to develop a future virtual reality fighting game, in which players would fight each other through machines.
