Forward kinematics
- In French:
- Cinématique directe
Definition
Calculation of the position and orientation of a robot’s tool from the angles or positions of its joints. For an open-chain arm the calculation is direct: one geometric transformation per joint is chained together, from the base to the tool, and the result is unique. It is the opposite problem to inverse kinematics.
