Definition
Software whose source code is accessible and whose licence allows anyone to use, study, modify and redistribute it. The Open Source Initiative maintains the definition, which sets out ten criteria, including free redistribution and no discrimination against persons or fields of use. ROS, robotics’ main software toolkit, is distributed in this form.
