In China, a humanoid stops cars at a drink-driving checkpoint: two drivers caught on day one
Police in Shaoxing have posted humanoid robots at a junction in Shangyu district. On the first day, two drivers were caught breaking the law.
At the junction, the robot announces the stop to approaching vehicles with a voice message, then raises its arm to signal them to halt. It is stationed on Jiangdong Road in Shangyu district, according to the South Korean newspaper Robot Newspaper.
The two drivers had alcohol levels of 37 mg/100 ml and 30 mg/100 ml, above the legal limit in China. Police officers carried out the test on the spot.
The model used is a Yuanzheng A3 Ultra, according to the newspaper. It recognises vehicles, gives voice instructions and flags anomalies.
The newspaper stresses how the roles are divided: the robot greets drivers and carries out a first screening, then police officers check again and issue fines.
