In London, Deliveroo hands its first orders to robots moving at walking pace on pavements

Coco Robotics and Deliveroo, a DoorDash brand, have announced an exclusive partnership for robot deliveries in the United Kingdom, starting this October in London's Canary Wharf district.

Coco's robots move at walking pace on pavements and bring orders directly to customers. Most orders will still be delivered by Deliveroo's riders.

For Deliveroo, this is the first use of autonomous delivery vehicles in the United Kingdom, the press release says.

The robots will also serve blind and partially sighted pedestrians: Coco will send obstacles spotted on pavements to the BlindSquare app in real time, so that it can flag them.

Founded in 2020, Coco says it has made more than 500,000 zero-emission deliveries in the United States and Europe, for more than 4,500 restaurants and shops.
