According to Robot Newspaper, Gecko Robotics announced a partnership with Anduril Industries on 8 October. It aims to strengthen US shipbuilding production capacity.

Anduril describes Arsenal-2, in Baltimore County, as a software-driven shipyard. It is meant to increase production of Virginia-class submarines.

Gecko Robotics says it has cut forging inspection time by up to 90% for other customers in the defence sector.

Inspection expertise is built into the software and the robots. According to the company, an operator with no experience of non-destructive testing can carry out inspections after about 1 hour of training.

Bill Noderer, vice-president for shipbuilding at Anduril, intends to cut waiting times for inspections and apply the same quality control at Arsenal-2 from commissioning.
