Top US homebuilder signs with Promise Robotics for more than 1,250 robot-built homes
Promise Robotics, which applies AI and robotics to home building, has announced a multi-year commercial agreement with D.R. Horton, the largest homebuilder in the United States by volume.
According to the press release relayed by Robotics Tomorrow, D.R. Horton will have access to Promise Robotics' “Factory-as-a-Service” (FaaS) offering to produce more than 1,250 homes. It is the first major US homebuilder to use the platform, as Promise Robotics expands its production network in the United States.
According to the company, the platform starts from existing house plans and turns them into a production process that runs from robotic factory manufacturing to installation on site.
The builder does not have to build or operate its own factories to get this automated capacity. Promise Robotics says this cuts construction times and raises volumes.
The software interprets the plans, generates production plans and instructions for the robots, then runs manufacturing and links it to on-site installation, Promise Robotics says.
At D.R. Horton, Brad Conlon, vice president of strategic growth and innovation, says he is looking to shorten timelines, increase production capacity and make operations more consistent.
