At the Ikebukuro substation, the robot makes its rounds at 7h, 13h and 19h, three times a day. Previously, staff visited about twice a month. According to Robotstart, the condition of the equipment is therefore checked far more often.

The trial is taking place at the Ikebukuro substation, in Toshima ward, Tokyo, and is due to run until 31 March 2027.

The ugo mini is a small wheeled robot weighing about 16 kg. Its telescopic mast carries a 4K camera that can rise to about 180 cm to film the equipment.

The robot has been on sale since 2025, and ugo had delivered more than 100 units in total by March 2026, according to Robotstart.
