T-Robotics is leading work on a physical AI system designed to fully automate the curing of optical modules, with no operator, and to handle predictive maintenance of the equipment.

Total public funding is 102 eok won, or ten billion two hundred million won. A large South Korean group, whose name has not been disclosed, and the institute KAIST are also taking part. The work is due to run until December 2029.

The project falls under the machinery and equipment technology development programme of South Korea's Ministry of Industry. The Korea Institute of Evaluation and Planning for Industrial Technology oversees it.

Predictive maintenance will draw on equipment condition data and process data to spot anomalies before they disrupt production.

According to a T-Robotics official, the project lets the company move beyond industrial robots and logistics automation into AI-driven autonomous production.
