Definition
A code defined by the IEC 60529 standard that indicates the degree of protection of an electrical enclosure against the ingress of solid objects, dust and water. It is written IP followed by two digits: the first concerns solids, the second liquids. An X in place of a digit means that aspect was not tested, not that protection is zero.
