Quality of service (QoS)

In French:
Qualité de service (QoS)
Abbreviation:
QoS

Definition

A set of settings that define how messages flow between ROS 2 nodes: delivery guarantee, number of messages kept, retention for late-joining subscribers. One can thus choose reliable transmission, comparable to TCP, or best-effort, comparable to UDP, which tolerates losses. This choice matters on wireless networks, where messages get lost.
