Robot arm (manipulator)
- In French:
- Bras robotique
Definition
A chain of rigid segments joined by motorised joints, rotating or sliding, with a tool fixed at the end. The number of independent joints gives its degrees of freedom, and therefore the variety of positions and orientations it can give that tool. The ISO 8373 standard calls this mechanism of segments that are jointed or that slide relative to one another a manipulator.
