Definition
According to ISO 8373, an automatically controlled, reprogrammable, multipurpose manipulator, programmable in three or more axes, fixed in place or mounted on a mobile platform, intended for automation in an industrial environment. Reprogrammable means that its movements can be changed without physically altering the mechanics. Its safety is covered by the ISO 10218-1 and ISO 10218-2 standards.
