Strain wave gear
- In French:
- Réducteur harmonique
Definition
A reducer made of three parts: an elliptical wave generator, a flexible toothed ring and a rigid toothed ring. As it turns, the wave generator deforms the flexible ring, whose teeth progressively engage with those of the rigid ring, which produces a high reduction in a single stage. Compact, light and practically free of backlash, it is also known by the name of its original brand, Harmonic Drive.
