Home robot: consumables, parts, subscription and electricity, the real 5-year cost
The catalogue price shown by the manufacturer is only a starting point: consumables, parts that wear out, a possible subscription and electricity all come on top. Here is how to calculate this cost item by item over 5 years.
Five spending items, not one
A home robot involves five separate spending items: the catalogue price, consumables (filters, brushes, mop pads), parts that wear out such as the battery, a possible subscription, and the electricity used over the course of cleanings. Comparing two robots requires adding all of them together.
What Vuntum's database can, and cannot, say
Vuntum's database, as of 9 October 2026, lists 94 robots in the home segments (utility, companion, toy). 48 of these have a sourced purchase price. Only 9 have a list of wear parts or accessories linked to their profile. The database also lists 49 parts and accessories in total (41 consumables, 3 batteries, 3 tools, 1 charger, 1 other part), but none of them carry a price. The 3 batteries listed belong to Unitree robots intended for research and education: no robot vacuum battery appears among them. No subscription is recorded for any robot in the database. Electrical power is sourced for only 4 home robots.
The example of the DEEBOT X12 OmniCyclone
ECOVACS's DEEBOT X12 OmniCyclone illustrates the exercise well. On the official French product page (ECOVACS, accessed 6 October 2026), it is listed at 999.00 EUR in its "X12 OmniCyclone" variant. The German page for the same robot (ECOVACS, accessed 2 October 2026) states a rated power of 110 W. This is a rated power, not a measured average consumption: the page gives no actual consumption figure per clean.
Assuming, as a calculation hypothesis rather than a measurement, one hour of operation per day at this rated power, this gives 40.15 kWh per year. Under EDF's Tarif Bleu, Base option, for subscribed capacities of 3 kVA and 6 kVA, the price per kWh is 0.2001 EUR including tax, "in force as of 1 August 2026" (Selectra, updated 28 September 2026); other contracts, market offers and off-peak hours are not covered here. This comes to 8.03 EUR per year, or around 40.17 EUR over 5 years. Each additional hour per day adds roughly the same amount. Purchase and electricity combined over 5 years: around 1,039 EUR, not counting consumables or any subscription, whose price in euros has not been found.
Consumables: a calculation made impossible by the lack of a replacement schedule
Among the pages of ECOVACS's US accessories shop that we recorded, two X12 kits carry a price. The "X12 Quarterly Accessories Kit" (accessed 9 October 2026) costs 138.96 USD and contains 3 antibacterial filters, 2 anti-tangle side brushes, 1 anti-tangle roller brush, 1 antibacterial mop roller, 1 1L bottle of cleaning solution and 1 1L bottle of high-performance cleaning solution. The "X12 Half Year Accessories Kit" (accessed 9 October 2026) costs 193.94 USD for the same contents, with doubled quantities for the cleaning solutions. Neither page states a replacement schedule: the word "Quarterly" appears in the kit's name, without the page explaining it.
Without a stated replacement schedule, the annual cost of consumables cannot be calculated in any currency from the sources. These amounts are in dollars and cannot be added to the euro purchase price in France. As a scenario, not a manufacturer forecast, renewing the quarterly kit four times a year would come to 555.84 USD per year, or 2,779.20 USD over 5 years. Renewing the half-year kit twice a year would come to 387.88 USD per year, or 1,939.40 USD over 5 years. The manufacturer does not state anywhere that this pace should be followed: these are reader hypotheses, not measured data. In Vuntum's database, 7 parts are linked to the X12 OmniCyclone's profile (ECOVACS shop pages, confirmed 7 October 2026), but none have a recorded price, and no subscription is recorded for this robot.
Other robots, the same gaps
ECOVACS's DEEBOT X2 OMNI has 9 parts listed in the database (antibacterial filter, side brush, floating rubber brush, washable mop pads, antibacterial dust bags, among others, ECOVACS shop pages confirmed 7 October 2026) and a rated power of 45 W (official French page, accessed 6 October 2026). But neither its purchase price nor the price of its parts have been found in the database.
For iRobot's Roomba Plus 515 Combo, the manufacturer states, on the US market, a "usual price before the limited-time reduction" of 699.99 USD, bundled with the AutoWash station (official iRobot page, accessed 2 October 2026). The database links 7 parts to its profile (filters, edge brush, multi-surface brush, DualClean mop pads, refill kits, iRobot pages confirmed 3 and 7 October 2026), but neither their price, nor the robot's power, nor any subscription have been found.
Doing the calculation with your own figures
Vuntum's cost simulator, available on the site's "Cost Simulator" page, adds up four items over 2, 5 or 7 years: the purchase paid upfront, the monthly subscription, consumables per year, and electricity calculated from the power in watts, hours of use per day, days per year and the price per kWh. It only auto-fills values already sourced on a robot's profile, such as price or power. Everything else is left to the reader: a field left blank counts as zero in the total, never as an estimate in its place. A price shown in dollars or euros stays in its original currency, with no conversion. There is no default cost: each user must enter their own assumptions, particularly for consumables and the subscription, since this data is absent from the database.
What cannot yet be stated
As of the access date, no part price and no subscription amount has been found for the robot vacuums in Vuntum's database. The honest 5-year cost of an X12 OmniCyclone is therefore, for now, limited to the 999 EUR purchase price and around 40 EUR of electricity under the assumption of one hour of daily operation: the rest, consumables included, remains to be documented in euros.
