According to Petoi, Nybble can sit, stretch, sleep, keep its balance, wave and do press-ups. Owners can also program it to teach it new tricks.
The cat has 11 joints: 2 on each leg, 2 in the head and 1 in the tail, the manufacturer says.
Assembling the frame takes four hours on average, with no soldering for the basic functions. Petoi recommends the robot for ages 14 and over, and younger children can build it with an adult.
The current version comes with a rechargeable battery that gives 70 minutes of play, according to the manufacturer.
Nybble is built on OpenCat, open-source software designed for four-legged robot animals. Petoi founder Rongzhong Li first used it to make a prototype cat before selling it commercially.
