Séoul veut faire rouler 500 bus urbains autonomes d'ici 2030, avec Hyundai
The city of Seoul signed an agreement on 1 October with Hyundai and the bus companies' association to put autonomous city buses on the road, Korean site Robot Newspaper (로봇신문) reports.
Seoul wants to run 500 autonomous city buses by 2030, according to Robot Newspaper, which relays the city's announcement.
The city says it signed an agreement on 1 October with Hyundai and the Seoul bus companies' association. It aims at commercial service of level 4 autonomous buses.
Hyundai will support the development, manufacture, supply and maintenance of an 11 m bus designed for autonomous driving.
The bus companies' association will help find the staff and facilities needed: test drivers, supervision staff, depots and charging points.
Deployment is due to start in 2029. The autonomous buses will gradually replace ageing vehicles, reaching 500 buses in 2030, according to the city.
