According to cnBeta, the South Korean government is allowing the company Robros to deploy 20 bipedal humanoids in semiconductors, automotive, shipbuilding and logistics. The robots will be able to move and work in the same areas as workers, or in neighbouring ones.

The ministry of Industrie and Commerce announced the decision on 13 October 2026. The project was approved under South Korea's “regulatory sandbox”, which allows certain rules to be suspended temporarily so that a technology can be tested in real conditions.

On the car line, the humanoids will carry body parts and place them in a precise position. At the shipyard, they will stack the metal connecting pieces used to fix scaffolding for work at height on the hull.

The exemption applies only to this trial. Companies must still carry out a risk assessment in line with the requirements of the ministry of Emploi and Travail, and take the necessary control measures.
