According to the Global Times, the joint venture aims to sell at least 10,000 humanoid robots by 2030. UBTECH presents the figure as a sales target, not as an order already won.
The robots are meant to serve C&D Inc's supply chain and real estate businesses: logistics, warehousing, security inspection and services in urban public spaces.
UBTECH says its centre in Fujian will handle operations and maintenance, training, research and application development, equipment pooling, leasing and sales.
According to UBTECH, the two companies also want to explore supply chain financing, to make large deployments more accessible.
In an earlier interview with the Global Times, UBTECH vice-president Pang Jianxin said industrial sites could be the first to take humanoids at scale in China, because of possible labour shortages and efficiency gains.
