Series elastic actuator
- In French:
- Actionneur élastique en série
- Abbreviation:
- SEA
Definition
An actuator in which a spring is deliberately placed between the motor and the load. The deformation of the spring makes it possible to measure the force being transmitted and to regulate it more finely, and it absorbs shocks. This compliance makes contact with the environment or with a person less abrupt than with a rigid transmission.
