Emergency stop
- In French:
- Arrêt d’urgence
Definition
A safety function that stops a machine when a person operates a dedicated control, in case of danger. Its design principles are set by the ISO 13850 standard, which applies to machines whatever the energy that drives them. The standard excludes machines for which an emergency stop would not reduce the risk, as well as hand-held or hand-guided machines.
