Force/torque sensor
- In French:
- Capteur d’effort (force-couple)
Definition
A sensor, often mounted at the wrist of a robot arm, that measures the forces and torques applied to the tool along the three axes of space, that is six components. It lets the robot feel a contact, gauge a grip or apply a constant pressure. Its measurements are also used, for example, to estimate the mass of a held object.
