Definition
A rotational effort exerted around an axis, equal to a force multiplied by the distance at which it is applied, expressed in newton-metres (N·m). For a robot joint, it is what the motor must supply to turn the segment and the load it carries. A gearbox increases the torque available at the output at the price of a lower speed.
