Definition
Software that computes the behaviour of a robot and its environment according to the laws of mechanics: gravity, contacts, friction, joints. It lets one test a program, generate data or train a policy without risking damage to hardware. Its results always differ somewhat from reality, a gap that sim-to-real transfer seeks to close.
