Sim-to-real (simulation-to-reality transfer)
- In French:
- Sim-to-real (transfert simulation-réalité)
Definition
Moving a model or policy trained in simulation onto a real robot. Simulation provides abundant and safe data, but the gap between simulated and real, called the “reality gap”, degrades performance once on the robot. Domain randomization and identifying the robot’s physical parameters are among the methods to reduce it.
