HumanoidsBrief
Walker S2 humanoid changes its own battery in under 3 minutes, according to UBTECH
UBTECH designed the Walker S2 for factory work. The manufacturer presents it as the first humanoid able to replace its own battery.
The robot uses its two arms to swap its battery. According to UBTECH's official page, the operation takes it less than 3 minutes, with no human intervention.
The Walker S2 carries two batteries and can run on just one. According to the manufacturer, it decides for itself whether to change battery or recharge, depending on how urgent its tasks are.
Thanks to a powerful motor in the waist, the robot lifts a 15 kg load and rotates through ±162°, UBTECH says. It can also bend forward by 125° to pick up objects from the floor.
The same page gives details of the waist rotation, which lets the robot reach the floor and grasp distant objects.
To see, the Walker S2 uses only two colour cameras set in its head. According to the manufacturer, they give it depth perception comparable to that of the human eye.
