According to several rental firms interviewed by the “BUG” section of Sina Tech, the daily rate for a basic Unitree G1 has fallen below 2,000 yuan. A robot dog now costs less than 500 yuan.
The national holiday, once a small peak season for these firms, was “very gloomy” this year, they say. The roles have reversed: a single customer can be courted by a dozen or so rental companies.
Falling sale prices make the problem worse. The G1, launched in May 2024, had its price cut in 2026. Rental firms are watching the value of their machines melt away before they have paid for themselves.
Platforms are also cutting prices. The rental service Qingtianzu offers a two-hour trial for 1 yuan in ten major cities.
