Audi tests humanoids on one of the hardest tasks to automate in its plants

Agile Robots, Audi, Dassault Systèmes and Nvidia presented a proof of concept for automating automotive logistics at the GTC conference in Berlin, Planète Robots reports.

The project targets Audi's Ingolstadt plant. According to Planète Robots, Agile Robots' mobile humanoids pick parts from storage bins at the Production Lab, Audi's space for testing new production and logistics technologies.

At Audi, around one million picking operations are carried out every day to deliver parts to the assembly stations. Gerd Walker, the Audi board member responsible for production and logistics, notes that picking has for decades been among the hardest tasks to automate.

Based in Munich, Agile Robots says it has already deployed more than 20,000 robotic solutions to customers worldwide.
